For our first shore day this year we went to the Belmar Seafood festival with our friends Sean, Becky, and their adorable daughter Izzy.
The festival takes place in a parking lot in the heart of Belmar with lots of tasty seafood options to choose from. I believe it happens every year and though it’s not an all day event it’s definitely worth checking out.
I knew right away that the $19 lobster roll from Point Lobster would be my purchase. It’s a great price for a ton of buttery lobster meat and I mean a ton! It was one of the best lobster rolls I have ever had and that’s saying a lot because I eat them whenever I can. Definitely get this!
Tom ordered these terrible crab fritters from one of the many fried seafood booths. They were so greasy and I’m pretty sure we did not get one piece of crab in those balls of dough. The fries were also terrible. We say avoid this if you go next year.
After a bit of walking around and listening to some bands, we bid farewell to our friends and made a stop over at Beach Haus Brewery.
Here, we sampled their new IPA Milkshake and the flavor was just a little too weird and alcoholy for us. So we moved on to some tried and true summer flavors.
I ordered the Grapefruit Radler which is a fruit juice beer hybrid. It’s super light and refreshing on a hot summer day. Tom had the Cruiser IPA. It’s a light hoppy classic.
We planned on going home after our beers, but we were hungry and there was a lot of traffic. Soooooo, the next stop in our journey was the town of Point Pleasant. We decided to just walk around and see what was open. That’s how we stumbled upon B2 Bistro and Bar. I haven’t walked around the little town of Point Pleasant in sometime so I was excited to spot this new place to try. They have upscale bar bites, seafood, and a really good beer menu with a lot of local brews.
We decided to each order a local beer and some food to share. We had the Fried Green Tomato & Stracciatella, green goddess, pickled vegetables, micro greens. This was a lot of food for $12 and it was super tasty! The fried green tomato was almost like a piece of bread to spread the creamy cheese on.
We also order one of the flatbreads. We picked the B2 Trio, pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, chorizo, speck, calabrese sopressata. You cannot go wrong with a pizza topped with all the meats! It was also a great deal for $15.
This place is reasonably priced and has very tasty food. We plan on going back so we can try some more. We’ll be back with another Jersey Shore post soon!
