Walt Disney World 2019 – Day 2 pt. 2

Part 2 of this day is the part where it rained, but we ate more food so it was totally worth it!

As I mentioned in the last post we got a on bus… and it took us to Kidani Village. This is the Disney Vacation Club building at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had dinner reservations for Sanaa and decided it would be cool to checkout the resort before then.

Kidani Village is like a miniature version of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was a very similar layout, but it’s really tiny. There wasn’t too much for us to explore, but we did sit outside just before the rain started and watched the animals. It’s so cool being able to sit at resort watching Giraffes go by.

As the rain came down we sat in the Sanaa lounge and enjoyed some beers from Africa. We both picked the Kenyan Lager. I’m not typically a lager person, but this was light and well balanced. Not to mention super refreshing on this hot hot day.

Beers consumed and it was time for our dinner at Sanaa. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube videos on how great Sanaa is and it’s a favorite of Happiest Vlogs on Earth (they know good food) so we were very excited to try it.

Sanaa is now one of our favorite restaurants on property! We started with the Indian Bread Service. It comes with 5 different breads and 9 different dipping sauces. Each bread and sauce were better than the next. You just wanted to keep trying and keep combining different flavors. Everything was so tasty.

Here are the breads and sauces you receive:  Choice of Five Breads and with all Nine Accompaniments – Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kulcha, or Paneer Paratha. Accompaniments – Cucumber Raita, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Tamarind Chutney, Coriander Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Red Chile Sambal, or Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle.

The bread service is a ton of food so we both had appetizers for our entrees. I ordered the Scallop Chana, Seared Scallops, Chana Dhal, Greens, and Citrus Gastrique. Tom had the Oxtail Umngqusho, Braised Oxtail, Marrow, Cracked Hominy, and Beans.

Both dishes were perfectly balanced and full of flavor! My scallops were tender and Tom’s oxtail melted in your mouth. Bonus: they only cost $12 each! In fact the entire meal cost us about $40! This was the cheapest meal we have ever had at Disney and it was killer!

After dinner, we went back to Animal Kingdom for our flight of Passage fastpass and to finally see Pandora at night. There was only one problem.. it was a constant heavy rainfall…

But when in Disney you grab your ponchos and make the most of it! We decided to ride Expedition Everest! It only had a 20 minute wait in the rain! This totally made up for our canceled fastpass and it was so much fun in the rain. It became a crazy water ride.

Flight of Passage is a fast and visually stunning ride much like Soarin and Star Tours. It truly feels like you are flying on a banshee and it made me so sick. If you get motion sickness like I do… DO NOT RIDE THIS RIDE! I wanted to experience it just once, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Tom LOVED it! He thought it was so cool and we’re both really glad we got a fastpass for it.

As we exited the ride it was raining even harder and my stomach was really upset. It was time for us to call it a day, but I leave you with this. Pandora at night should definitely be experience at least once. We don’t usually go to the parks after dinner, but this was really cool. See you next week for day 3! PS. Sorry most of the images are poor quality. The rain and humidity messed with the camera.
