Walt Disney World 2019 – Day 3 pt. 2

Back at Pop Century it was pool and beer time! I needed to get a birthday beer and they have a pretty good selection!

We both ordered the Blue Point Mad Sea’d. It’s a lager brewed with sea salt and watermelon. It’s super refreshing with just a hint of watermelon flavor.

It began to rain so we went back to the room to get cleaned up for dinner. With a little bit of time to kill before our reservation we went over to Art of Animation on the other side of the generation gap bridge.

This hotel was supposed to be part of Pop Centry, but due to post 9/11 budget cuts that project was never completed. In 2013 Art of Animation opened as a value resort featuring family suits and very cool larger than life props.

We checked out each section of the hotel; Finding Nemo, Lion King, Cars, and the Little Mermaid.

It was fun to explore and play around like we were kids. It felt like we were part of all the movies.

We were on to Disney Springs for dinner after Art of Animation. We had reservations at Paddlefish and I was so excited!

Paddlefish is a boat on the shores of Lake Buena Vista and serves up really fresh seafood and some other options for non-seafood eaters like steaks and pastas.

We had to start out with some birthday margaritas! I went classic on the rocks with salt. Tom had the Not Everyone’s Margarita, Mina Real Mezcal, Cimarron Blanco tequila, jalapeño, Creme de Mure, house sour, black salt. The cocktails were smooth and both had incredible flavor. Tom’s was so balanced between the smokey mezcal, the spice from the jalapeño, and the little bit of sweet.

For dinner, I ordered the Alaskan King Crab, 10 oz served with with Sweet Corn on the Cob, Red Potatoes, and Cornbread. If you can’t tell by the look of pure bliss on my face this was delicious! I love crab legs they are in my top 10 favorite foods and this did not disappoint. It’s also a pretty good price at only $42 for all that food.

Tom ordered the Swordfish at the recommendation of our waiter. It had Wasabi-whipped Potato, Shiitake, and Snow Pea Stir Fry, Miso Sauce. The swordfish was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was so tasty. He really loved the wasabi potatoes. They had just the right amount of heat and were super fluffy.

We were too full for dessert so we planned on walking around Disney Springs for a little bit then finding dessert at either Sprinkles or The Ganachery. Our waiter had other plans and brought me out an very creamy cheesecake for my birthday. Another magical moment in the books for the day. I felt so special and it was really yummy!

After dinner we did a little shopping around Disney Springs before calling it a night. What an amazing way to turn 31!
