Walt Disney World 2019 – Day 4 pt. 2

We left Hollywood Studios in the early afternoon. We made it back to Pop in time for a snack and some pool time.

Relaxing by the pool with some Mickey shaped food is the perfect way to unwind after an early morning in the parks.

Tom got a sparkly whoopie pie and I went for a classic chocolate dipped rice crispy treat. Both were the sugary pick-me-up we needed.

Cleaned up from our swim, we boarded a bus to the Magic Kingdom, and then the Monorail to the Grand Floridian for our dinner reservations.

We arrived at the Grand early so we could enjoy drinkie-poohs in the lobby just like my family would. Tom ordered a scotch and I had a cabernet sauvignon.

The lobby is so beautiful and romantic. It’s wonderful to sit there and listen to both the band and the piano player. We love it there and it reminds me so much of my childhood. The Grand will always feel like home to me.

Our dinner reservations were at Citricos. This is an American restaurant with Mediterranean flare. It is a signature restaurant and it will run you $$$, but it is so worth it. Everyone wants to go to Califorina Grill for the food and the views, but this just as good. It’s also much quieter and very romantic. So if you can’t get a reservation for Cali try Citricos. You will not be disappointed.

We began our dinner with wine and the free bread service. I love the butter here. It’s really silly, but there is something so tasty about unsalted butter with salt and different citrus zest. It pairs so well with the olive sour dough bread.

For dinner Tom ordered the Red Wine-braised Beef Short Ribs, Swiss Chard, Exotic Mushroom, Fresh Pappardelle Pasta. The presentation of the dish was not what we expected. We thought this would be a pasta dish with each component tossed together, but it was more like a fancy Sunday pot roast with egg noodles and a vegetable. Don’t let that turn you off because this was good! The short rib was rich and tender and each element just brought the dish to a new level. It was well done.

I ordered the Oak-grilled Tuna, Lemon-roasted Potatoes, Seasonal Bean Ragoût, Grilled Baby Romaine. You shouldn’t be surprise that I ordered tuna because it’s a favorite of mine and this one did not disappoint. The tuna was cooked perfectly rare and the seanl bean ragout was so creamy I wanted to swim in it. If you’ve never had grilled romanine it’s time. Just get it. It’s awesome!

We shared the Tiramisù for dessert. It’s a favorite of mine and Citircos does it very well. I love that they top it with chocolate covered espresso beans. It’s just really tasty.

Our night ended with watching Happily Ever After from the monorail as we did a little hotel hopping.
