Astoria Park is one of our favorite parts of living in Astoria. It has played a huge part in our life and because of that we have always wanted to give back.

Our plan has always been to volunteer to help cleanup the park, but time and time again the cleanup days never worked with our schedule.

Unfortunately, we were never able to make it happen and now we’ve moved away.
Our plan B was to find away to donate to the park and we did just that. You may have noticed towards the water that there is a little wooden house full of books. This little house is actually a free library!

You can give a book, you can take a book. The books are their for us all to enjoy! While we were packing up to move we realized we had about 13 books we no longer wanted or needed.

Instead of throwing them away, we decided to share them with the world. We packed them up and walked over to the park. We placed them nicely in the free library. It seriously needed some organizing so we did that too. It was super easy and we hope everyone gets to enjoy them. Let us know if you’ve ever taken a book from the library. Maybe it was one of ours.

If you’re interested in volunteering in the park please check out the Astoria Park Alliance website. If you’re interested in donating books just drop them off. It’s super easy! You can read more about these libraries here. If you want to see the rest of our Astoria Buck List click here.
