We woke up at 6am on the morning of my birthday weekend to head to the beach, but my pregnant body had other plans. I was just too uncomfortable to spend the day there so instead Tom bought us some Wawa coffee and we enjoyed it on our back deck. It was simple and the perfect morning.

Tom then presented me with the best birthday present. A basket of goodies to make me feel like me again after Avery is born. There was a super cute bag, comfy PJs, and two bottles of wine to enjoy with a gift card for pizza! Pizza and wine nights will be back soon!
For lunch, we headed into Princeton and couldn’t get into the place we intended to go, in fact, we couldn’t find it so we found a random little cafe serving up sandwiches and brunch items. It was called Cafe Vienna on Nassau Street. We both opted for the Panini salad combo.

I had the Tribeca Panini and Tom had the Manzano. Mine came with fresh basil, sundried tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto. Tom’s had beef, fontina, apple, mustard, and horseradish. Both were really tasty for a random last minute find. I was getting weak from hunger so this really hit the spot.

After lunch we headed over to Thomas Sweets for ice cream where I opted for a very tasty chai ice cream and Tom had oreo cheesecake ice cream.

We reseted a little bit at home before heading out on our next culinary adventure… Boulevard Seafood Company! This is the number one place I have wanted to try since moving to the area. Seafood is my favorite food and I’m glad we waited to be able to enjoy it there in person.

We both started with an appetizer. Tom opted for 1/2 a dozen PEI oysters. They were so briny and sweet that he wished he had ordered more. For my app I went with the chilled gazpacho with sweet and tender jumbo lump crab meat. It also had tiny pieces of watermelon adding another nice light sweetness. This was simply perfection on a hot summer night.

For his dinner Tom ordered the fish tacos with crispy cod, mango tomato salsa, pickled red onion, arugula, chili aioli. You have the option for 2 or 3 and he went for 2. They’re pretty large and the perfect amount of food if you had a appetizer first. He highly recommends getting these. I gave them a taste too and that cod was cooked so well and so crispy.

When it came time for entrees I opted for one of the small plates instead. I had the pan seared dayboat scallops with pine nut, raisin gremolata, and a lemon vinaigrette. I got 4 good sized perfectly cooked scallops and the warm kale salad underneath accompanied the sweet seafood so well. 5 out 5 stars and would totally recommend.

Feeling very hot from sitting outside and extremely full we headed home to relax. We ended the night with a movie and a drink. Tom grabbing a beer and I enjoyed my favorite pregnancy drink tamarind soda with a lot of ice and lime.
